My Credentials and Experience

My teaching background:

I began teaching private music lessons when I was 16 (in year 2000) and continued private music instruction as I got my Music degree from Azusa Pacific University.

I then joined the instructor staff at Joe Ferrante Music Academy in Monrovia for voice, songwriting, guitar and piano, which I continued over the years (with the exception of going on a few tours).

Finally, as I moved to Chino Hills in 2012 and then Eastvale in 2013, I became a private instructor once again, now serving about 25 music students a week who range from beginner to professional, kids to adults.

My Teaching style:

I believe all humans learn the most effectively when trust, safety, FUN, and purpose are present.

Students are encouraged to participate in choosing the material they learn, collaborate on setting practice goals, and develop the healthy autonomy and mastery that all great musicians possess.

While I require a classic knowledge base (a.k.a. reading sheet music, using proper technique and understanding historic genres), I specialize in teaching modern pop, gospel, and jazz.

So, my students are uniquely set up to compose and write, as well as grow in relevant, present-day music careers such as joining a rock band, participating in musical theatre, being a worship leader, co-writing for pop artists, or producing original music.

My Experience as an Artist:
I began my music career at 16 after winning a talent show and being invited to record with a Christian band in Kansas City. Soon after, I was listed in Gospel Music Association’s Top 20 New Writers.

3 years later, after moving to LA, I dove deep into songwriting and recording for TV and film. My original music has been featured in The Bachelor, Extreme Home Makeover, Bachelor in Paradise, The Bachelorette, Temptation Island, CW’s Katy Keen, Love Island, Preachers of LA, Too Young to Marry, Mystery Millionare, Ex and the Why, and many other shows and indie films. I also co-wrote the theme song for TLC’s My Giant Life.

As a pop songwriter, I’ve been privileged to write with chart-topping R&B writer Aaron Sledge (Usher), Kevin Fisher (co-writer Rascal Flatts, Sarah Evans), Ashley Argotta (from The Fosters on ABC), Matt Arcaini (producer for Disciple, Kutless, I Am Empire), Jonathan Lee and Rhyan Shirley (writers for Word Music), Eman Cervantez (drummer for Andy Grammar), Tyrone Wells (Universal Music), Megan Tibbits (Rising Star) and many others.

I’ve also become a topliner for EDM collabs through labels like Soave and Magic Records; you can hear these releases on my Spotify (just search Andrea Hamilton), which has around 250,000 listeners each month.

Some of my past performances include the Dolby Theatre Hollywood, Hotel Cafe, Hollywood and Highland, Starlight Theatre KC, many U.S. venues and numerous international stages including Singapore’s Esplanade.
